Overall Objectives:


1. Identify the areas where ancient Egypt emerged and the influence of the River Nile on its development. (p.160/161)
2. Distinguish the historical periods of ancient Egypt. (p.160)
3. List the social groups of Egyptian society and explain their differences and position within the social hierarchy. (p.162, 163)
4. Identify the form of government of ancient Egypt and the civil servant who made up the administration (p.162)
5. Describe the main economical activities in ancient Egypt (p. 164)
6. Explain the characteristics of Egyptian religion and its influence on the social structure. (p. 166)
  7. Comment on the concept of immortality in Egyptian religion and its representation in art.

Pharaoh:
passed laws, governed the country, land owner, led armies, controlled trade

Situation 1:
You are a peasant and don't want to work building pyramids. Your contract is growing crops.

You are the Pharaoh and because of the Nile flood you want your peasants to help building the great pyramid

Objectives:

1. Explain the importance of writing in the passage from Prehistory to History.
2. Identify the early civilizations in History and place them in time and space.
3. Explain the transformation of Neolithic towns into empires.
4. Describe how Mesopotamia developed.
5. Indicate the characteristics of early urban societies, and the differences between them and Neolithic communities
6. Describe the configuration and social structure of Mesopotamian gods and rituals.
7. Explain the origin and formation of the first schools and describe the subjects taught.
8. Indicate the different social groups of early civilizations and explain their)functin within the social network.
9. Explain the main, general characteristics of Mesopotamian art, focusing on raw materials and types of work and art.
